Do you smile before you dial?
I want to share something with you this morning that stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard it.
There was a study at MIT. Researchers watched salespeople making calls. No sound. Just the picture. They could not hear a single word being spoken.
They predicted, with 70% accuracy, who would close the deal and who would not.
Just from watching.
Seven out of ten times, the words did not matter.
Because your body cannot lie. If you are slumped in your chair, distracted, going through the motions, your voice will give you away. Every time. The tone. The pace. The energy behind the words. Your client cannot see you. But they can feel you.
Here is what I do before every important call. I stand up. I smile before I dial. Not because it is a technique. Because it works. Your voice changes completely when you are smiling. Anyone on the other end of that phone can hear it.
The old saying is right. It is not what you say. It is how you say it.
And here is my challenge to you for today.
Speak to one customer. Just one. Make them feel like the most important person in your business — because right now, they are.
The winners in this market are not the ones who worried the best. They are the ones who made their customers feel the best.
That edge is free. It is available to you this morning. And almost nobody is using it.
