90% Of Businesses Are Getting AI Completely Wrong
Most business owners I talk to don’t know what to ask AI, and that’s the entire problem. It isn’t a technical hurdle or some complicated coding challenge; it’s just a conversation.
I’ve started using the 30-40-30 Rule, which I learned from some of the best AI minds in the world. It completely changed how I look at these tools, and it’s how I ensure I get actual value instead of digital noise.
The First 30%: The Brief
The secret is in how you brief the AI. I tell it exactly what I want, who I’m talking to, and what’s in it for them. But here is the “pro” move: I ask the AI to ask me questions before it starts the task. This ensures it understands my context and my business before it ever types a single word.
The Next 40%: The Heavy Lifting
Once the AI has that context, it does the bulk of the work. This is the stage where I see nearly half the job completed, and because the brief was right, it’s actually done to a high professional standard.
The Final 30%: The Refinement
This is where most people stop, and it’s the biggest mistake you can make. This final stage is where the AI and I refine the output together. This is where “good” becomes “spectacular.” If you skip this part, you’re usually left with beautiful-looking garbage. If you lean into it, you get a finished product that actually sounds like you and works for your business.
My advice? Start simple. Write down one pressing question about your business, and just start the conversation.
